Classroom Moves Update
Posted 3/29/2017 at 11:48:48 AM by Laura Neely [staff member]
The end is near and all teachers/classrooms will be back in their original locations after spring break!

Over spring break, doorways will be installed in the Art room to the outside wall, in 604 to 703, in 705 to the library hallway, and in the computer lab to the lower grade main hallway. Our teachers and custodians are working on the logisitics internally to have classrooms ready on April 10th. We appreciate everyone's flexibility and patience over the last 3 months of school as we dealt with this issue.

Field Construction Update
Posted 3/29/2017 at 10:19:13 AM by Laura Neely [staff member]
The school district is repairing the wash-out behind the back fence of the field. Due to safety concerns, this has pushed KMS students off of the field, has pushed back soccer practice on M-Th nights (requiring lights), and has pushed back the installation of our new playground. However... GOOD NEWS! Soccer practice will resume it's normal schedule on Wednesday 3/29 which will elliminate the need for lighting. Stay tuned for an update on the projected date for work completion for not just the wash-out, but also the playground.
9 Week Progress Reports
Posted 3/23/2017 at 11:55:43 AM by Laura Neely [staff member]
9 week progress reports were issued on Thursday 3/23/17. Included in the progress report envelopes were winter MAP scores and 2016 Georgia Milestones Growth Reports. The growth reports are only available for 5th and 6th grade students who attended KMS last year. New 5th and 6th graders can pick up their growth reports from their previous schools. 4th graders do not have growth reports.

Please talk seriously with your child about academic goals for the remaining weeks in the semester. The amount of time left to make academic improvement is misleading. There are 9 weeks of school, but the following major events limit the actual amount of class time between now and May 24th:

Milestones Testing: 5 days for 5th graders, 3 days for 4th & 6th graders
5th grade Jekyll Trip: 3 days
4th grade field trip to the history center: 1 day
Field Day: 1 day
Club Day: 1 day
May MAP testing: 2 days

It's a good time to have a homework and study process "refresh" at home so that your child can continue with strong work habits and academic achievement through the end of the year.
