Celebrating Black History Month at KMS

Greetings KMS Families,

We are excited to be celebrating Black History Month at KMS throughout the month of February! We have an active and excited Black History Month Committee that is comprised of teachers, staff and students who have worked to put together an informative celebration. We look forward to rolling out the many exciting and educational activities planned to celebrate and honor the events and contributions of African Americans. Activities include:

  • Door and hallway displays
  • Reading selections and books for sale in our library - see flyer
  • Daily announcements including music
  • Classroom lessons
  • Art & Expression opportunities for student participation (flyer linked here)
  • Culminating program and performance (date/time TBA, interested students can sign up outside Ms. King's office, permission slip linked here)

If we have any parents out there who would like to contribute to our month long celebration through the sharing of things like book collections, historical artifacts, artwork or the like, please email me by replying to this message.

Happy Black History Month!

Sincerely,
