6th Grade Scoliosis Screening

6 February 2019

Greetings KMS Parents,

The sixth graders will be screened for scoliosis at school on Friday, February 22, 2019 during their German period. The screening notification (with option to decline) letter is available here. Please print the letter and return it to school if you do not want your child screened.

Please join your child to watch the “Scolio What?” video from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to learn more about scoliosis and what the screening will be like. The CHOA Scoliosis page is very helpful for understanding scoliosis and how it is treated.

Mr. Matt Osborn and Ms. Tara Goverdhan have been trained by the school district to conduct the screenings. Mr. Osborn (with witness Mr. Griffin) will screen the boys. Ms. Goverdhan (with witness Ms. Smith, School Nurse) will screen the girls. Screenings will be done one student at a time in a private office at KMS.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the process.

Sincerely,

Dr. Laura S. Neely, Principal
Kittredge Magnet School for High Achievers
