Overview Kittredge
Magnet School for High Achievers is an elementary school within the
DeKalb County School System in DeKalb County, GA, offering students in
grades four through six an enriched academic and cultural experience.
The
educational program for high achieving students is designed to enable
students to be creative life-long learners who excel to their
individual potential. The school provides challenging experiences in a
dynamic, safe, nurturing environment in which students are taught to
take responsibility for learning. The Kittredge program is enhanced by
its diversity and is supported by the collaborative efforts of school,
parents and community.
Students are selected to attend Kittredge
through an application and lottery system conducted by the DeKalb
County Magnet Office. In order to qualify, students must meet all of
the following requirements: >75th percentile Total Reading, ITBS >75th percentile Total Math, ITBS >85th percentile Complete Composite, ITBS Students must take the ITBS. Sign up here. >3.0 GPA from the fall semester of the application year Current resident of DeKalb County

schedule tours of our school each February and do not accommodate tour

Program Description Kittredge Magnet School for
High Achievers offers an educational program for students in grades
four through six who possess the intellectual potential, aptitude, and
functional ability to achieve in a rigorous academic environment.
The magnet program for high achieving students is comprehensive.
It is designed to enable students to be
creative, independent in action, critical in thought, and effective in communication.
Students
receive daily instruction in Mathematics, English/Language Arts,
Social Studies, Science, Instrumental Music, and Physical Education.
Students take German on alternating days and go to Art Studio for an
hour each week. Gifted instruction is given daily in the regular
classroom where opportunities for choice, problem solving, compacting,
student directed projects, and cooperative learning are the norm.
In
addition to providing a challenging curriculum, students are
encouraged to enroll in the many academically-centered enrichment
opportunities available to students after school. Teachers and parents
direct these after school sessions. These include:
