 6th Grade Art @ KMS!

Please be sure to bring your sketchbook and a pencil to class each time. Bring your black pen as well for the first few classes unless asked not to.

Students keep a log of homework assigned in the back of their sketchbook.
Use the "Calendar with Art Days" tab to see a calendar of upcoming art days. The teacher's name indicates who will bring you to art. Instead of that class, you will have art class. If you see a teacher's name that teaches you, then you have art on that day.

Working on clay: Today students will start glazing their pieces.
Homework due: Free Draw from list. Be sure piece is fully colored in and has a border. See criteria listed below.

Working on clay: Final day for any clay construction. Everything must be completed this class session.
Homework assigned: A Free Draw based on an idea from the Sketchbook Drawing Idea List you received in class.
The piece must: Be fully colored in. The background space cannot be left white (except for small, various items that legitimately need to be white), and it must have a border. Please put the time necessary to create a quality piece of art. Marker generally looks pretty bad when used to fill in large areas, so use with care :)

Today's class is an introduction to ceramics (clay). You will review/learn characteristics/properties about clay, how to make a pinch pot, how to join two pinch pots together, how to roll out coils, how to roll out slabs, and the techniques for joining clay together.

Today is an introduction to Art @ KMS. We will begin a piece in class titled "What Makes Me a High Achiever". The finished piece is due the following class. Please check the rubric below to be sure your piece has everything necessary.

Art intro 2017 project rubric. Total of 30 Points

1) All words are spelled correctly Yes/No _/2

2) There is a border of some sort near the outside edges of the paper. Yes/No _/2

3) Piece contains at least two phrases and illustrations explaining and illustrating what makes you a high achiever Yes/No _/16 (4 pts for each phrase and illustration)

4) Piece is colored/inked in. Yes/No _/4 (minimal white space- background cannot be white)
